The Final Blog

I have learned so much this year. It has been a great year to learn a completely new and exciting way to use technology as we know it today! Prior to coming into this class I had almost no exposure to anything related to computer programming but hopefully through this post you can understand some of things I learned this year. Along with some of the things I’ve learned, this post should also help with understanding all of the ways that I learned how to use WordPress this year. On my blog, I learned how to edit the homepage, add sub-pages, write a blog post, edit the menus users to navigate the website, and customize and change the theme. My favorite part about WordPress was how easy it was to customize the layout and theme of the website because you can change the color, pictures, and overall look of the website with just a few clicks. Writing a post is so easy and fun as well! You can do so many different things with the posts. You can change the font in a multitude of ways! You can also change the size, add a heading, and change the different colors but these are all of the things that you can do with just the words. You can add media to the post as well. The easiest and most common media that is able to be added is a youtube video or a song from Soundcloud. You can either embed these through HTML code or you can just copy and paste the link from the website and click embed. When making a post you have two options of how to make a post. The first option is just to use the text box and layout options to fill the post with your desired content. The second way is to switch it to an HTML coding format. This way if you are savvy in HTML, you can make the post this way. This may be desired for people who want to customize the post more than normal since this is a more complicated way to make one because of the prior knowledge of HTML that is needed. These are just a few of the new aspects I have learned over the course of this year. I feel so much more up to date on how modern technology works and how to actually use it. Understanding technology today is such an essential part of life and taking this course advanced my knowledge exponentially! I’m very thankful I took this class and recommend many upcoming students take it as well.

Workouts From Home

Workouts from home is an app that everyone should use. We know that being healthy is an important part of having a long life. It is even more important right now to be healthy due to Corona Virus. This app is needed because right now there are a lot of people around the world who do not have access to any gyms or places to workout. This is because of the quarantines that are going on around the world.  This app will provide different exercise plans and workouts that you can do in the comfort of your home with little to no extra gear needed. It will give you a choice of which sport you are in and provide plans for that sport, different kinds of workouts that you would like to do (plyometrics, isometrics, etc.), or muscle groups that you want to target. I think that everyone who cares about their health or plays sports will want to use this app. The main target of users will be athletes and who are stuck inside that can’t get better at their sport. The app will have to gather a multitude of workouts and muscle-specific workouts from the internet. It will have to gather all the different sports that are played today. It will also have to gather workout plans for general people. In the end, the user will be able to see the information of the specific class of workouts that they choose.  An example might be that someone wants to increase their strength in their legs because they play hockey. Another example might be that someone wants to increase their torsional force in their core for golf. The app will have an orange background with black and white pictures of the sports that are provided. It will have a drop-down menu from the top that you can change between muscle groups, sports, and exercise plans. This app will make people’s lives better because even though they can not go outside, they will still be able to stay fit and at the top of their game for their sport.

My top 3 favorite sports

There are many thrilling sports in the world today. Water polo, hockey, football, baseball, basketball, horse racing, competitive gaming, basketball, etc. My top three favorite would have to be hockey, soccer, and basketball. Hockey is a game played on ice, It has 12 players in play at one time, 5 players and a goalie on each side. It a quick paced game filled with lots of physicality and speed. It takes skill and hand-eye coordination to move the stick and shoot the puck. On the other side of that there are goalie who can completely steal a game for a team. My second favorite is soccer. Soccer has 22 players on the field at one time. It has 10 players on each team and a goalie. That makes 11 per side. The goal of the game is similar to hockey. It is to score more goals than the other team. The difference is that this game is played on a field instead of on ice and it is played with a soccer ball that is kicked around instead of a puck. My third favorite and final sport is basketball. It has 10 players on the court during the play. That means 5 players for each team. The point of this game is to score more point than the other team, except the goal is a hoop lifted 10 feet off the ground. The ball is thrown or dunked into the hoop. It is a fun game to watch because of the skill of the players. Out of these three I would still have to say that hockey is my favorite.

My Favorite Song

My favorite christian song would have to be “even if” by Mercy Me. I like this song because it really describes how much God cares for us and caries us through anything. The name is “even if” and this means that even if the situation doesn’t go how I want it to go, I will praise God all the same. He is always in control and either makes things happen or lets them happen.

All you have to do is click on the video and it will play. Click and watch it play.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
